Welcome to Ito Tours Panama
The best in birdwatching and nature
At 1,002 species, Panama has the second highest number of birds of any country in Central and North America despite its relatively small size. This great diversity stems in part from Panama's geological history. The isthmus was once part of an archipelago stretching between North and South America, which probably contributed to the evolution of Panama's wealth of regional endemics.
Cerro Punta located 10 minutes from Volcan (north of the Province of Chiriqui) and approximately 1,000 feet over Bambito, with temperatures ranging between 10° and 20°C (50°-70°F). This town was colonized by Europeans for whom livestock and agriculture represented a lifestyle. Cerro Punta is considered a fertile valley for cultivating vegetables, flowers, strawberries and raspberry on its rich volcanic soil. Cerro Punta produces 80% of the earth prodcountry, also exporting a great variety of flowers. It is also possible to visit "Haras de Cerro Punta", a breeding place of horses unique in Panama of world excellence and home of many Panamanian horse world champions in national and international classics. You can also visit the Dracula Orchid Farm (botanical garden located 7 minutes walking distance from Los Quetzales Hotel or also observe the Quetzals and stay in this spectacular in the town of Guadalupe.
Hiking y Treeking
Towering over Chiriquí province is the sleeping giant, the grand Volcano Baru, Panama's highest peak at 11,475 ft in elevation. This landmark is usually visible in the mornings but may be mysteriously cloaked in clouds in the afternoon. From its peak on a clear day, it is possible to see both the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea.

Birding´s Guide Knowledge
I started at 12 years old in Los Quetzales Hotel, as tourist guide, visiting the forest areas of Cerro Punta. Then, I worked with Biologists in the Christmas Bird Count, about 10 years; during this time I had the opportunity to increase my Bird´s knowledge. Also, I am in different Organizations of environmental conservation.I have guided important groups as: VENT Groups, Feld Guide, Massachusetts Audubon, Exotic Birding, Road Scholar, Eco-Treat Lodge.
I can guide you to the best places for birding all over the Panama Highlands and Panama City, I am friendly and my objectives is that you enjoy and observe our beautiful birds.
The resplendent quetzal (pronunciation: /ˈkɛtsəl/) (Pharomachrus mocinno) is a bird in the trogon family. It is found from Chiapas, Mexico to western Panama (unlike the other quetzals of the genus Pharomachrus, which are found in South America and eastern Panama). It is well known for its colorful plumage. There are two subspecies, P. m. mocinno and P. m. costaricensis.
